Broadway ‘Stomp’s on NBA Store’s Center Court

International sensation Stomp will be performing Center Court at the NBA Store’s Spring Jam April 4, 2007. Stomp is a rhythmic instrumental movement of dancers utilizing normal everyday objects to bring to life abstract ideas through the medium of sound. The uniquely original compositions originate from an idea first performed in Brighton, England when a group of street performers, often called “buskers,” sought to create a new format of performance in the effort to grab the attention of passer-bys.Stomp is currently performing on a regular basis at Orpheum Theatre, New York City as well as London’s West End and national tours of both America and Europe. It has won an Olivier Award, an Obie Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award in the category of Unique Theatrical Experience. April 17th the brand new production titled Stomp Out Loud will be debuting at Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As far as Stomp’s appearance at the NBA Store’s annual event, their performance will be one of many that are scheduled including basketball clinics and other activities that encourage the store’s customers to interact and become a part of the Spring Jam. Over a timeline of two weeks, eight total days, featured guests like the New York Knicks, Radio Disney, and Broadway’s cast of In The Heights will be at Center Court, the half basketball court at the heart of the store.

Stomp’s production notes describe it as “A unique combination of percussion, movement and visual comedy, Stomp has created its own inimitable, contemporary form of rhythmic expression: both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in the hands of an idiosyncratic band of body percussionists. It is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday, and a comic interplay of characters wordlessly communicating through dance and drum.” Don’t miss this event and get your tickets right here at StubHub.com.
