There is talk that Cabaret, starring Alan Cumming as the Emcee, may make a return to Studio 54 after its acclaimed 1998 revival. Due to the huge artistic success of the 1998 revival, there is speculation that bringing the show back to its old haunt would allow new audiences to see the production who may not have been able to see the show the first time it was produced. As an added bonus, should Cabaret be produced, again, at Roundabout Theater’s Studio 54, the financial aspects would be more beneficial than they would should the show be produced at a commercial theater.
Unlike being produced at a commercial theater, if this engagement of Cabaret made a profit, the money would go into other productions – totaling around seven new stagings a year – as well as educational programs.
