“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” Going to Broadway!

The classic 1967 film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?” is now being adapted for the stage and will be presented on Broadway in Fall of 2008. Presented by Jeffrey Finn Productions, this stage premiere of the Academy Award-winning film will be directed by Kenny Leon who is also know for his work in such prdouctions as A Raisin in the Sun, Gem of the Ocean and Radio Golf. Adapted by Todd Kreidler from the original screenplay written by William Rose, this production promises to be a great undertaking with even greater results.

Telling the tale of one set of liberal parents’ first-ever value test, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” highlights a young woman’s engagement to a wealthy, handsome, smart doctor who just so happens to be African-American while the excited fiancee and her parents are Caucasion. Looking into issues of racism and a sort of social normativity inherent within even the most liberal of homes, this adaptation is heartbreakingly current as it highlights a world where people live in intolerance and fear of others.
