The Drowsy Chaperone is Ready to Tour!

The theatre performers who have been chosen to tour with the Tony Award-winning musical better not be sleepy.  They are in for the long hall.  A few of the actors who have recently been added to the cast and have prominent roles in the show are Cliff Bemis, Andrea Chamberlain and Robert Dorfman.  These new additions join Bob Martin, Nancy Opel and Georgia Engel in the traveling musical about a reclusive theatre fan that is obsessed with musicals and has a particular favorite; can you guess what it is?  Yup, a 1928 production called The Drowsy Chaperone.  When the solitary man, named Man in Chair plays the scratchy record in his tattered and bare apartment, the musical comes to life before his eyes.

The Drowsy Chaperone tour kicks off September 19 in Toronto and then will continue on to more than thirty cities across the United States.  The crowd pleasing musical has been the topic of many crazed Broadway fanatics, some of them most likely with similar personalities to the main character.  The producers of the show have said that “Man in Chair’s love of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the theatre.”  If you’re infatuated with musicals, so much that you often pretend that you are the leading star for this production of life, get The Drowsy Chaperone tickets and become absorbed.
