Broadway is not on the schedule anymore for the new musical called “Lone Star Love,” that is currently playing at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre. The decision came after the out-of-town tryout in Washington State. The official announcement says that “Upcoming plans for the production will be announced when they are available.” No official word on why the musical, inspired by Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor” has been canceled, though some speculate it is because the turn-out for the much anticipated production was not as great as originally hoped.
If the show went on to the Big Apple, it would have been the Broadway debut of actor Randy Quaid, who plays the lead role in this quirky and hilarious adaptation of Shakespeare’s story which is transplanted in the Wild West, taking place shortly after the Civil War. The Red Clay Ramblers are also present in the production, who lead an onstage band. Of course this by no means implies doom for the comical musical and tickets are still available to see the show in Seattle. Make sure to get your Lone Star Love tickets at Stubhub.com.
