Bob Saget Makes Broadway Debut!

The T.V. dad to the Olsen twins and the former host of America’s Funniest Home Videos is making his Broadway debut, and it is without his extended family from the long-running television sitcom, “Full House.”  Bob Saget will take on the role of Man in Chair in the hit Broadway production of “The Drowsy Chaperone” starting on October 19.  Saget rose to fame with the T.V. show that portrayed him as a widowed father with four girls, a brother and a best friend all living in the same house.  As the seasons wore on, more family members joined the already packed household generating laughter from its many viewers.

His stint on Broadway, will last for four months into February 2008 where he will be the show tunes loving spectator who is treated to a full musical performance right in his very own living room.  In addition to his most famous appearances, on Full House and as host of America’s Funniest Home Videos, Saget has also guest starred on “Law and Order,” and the HBO series, “Entourage.”  In addition his own HBO special titled “Bob Saget: That Ain’t Right,” recently aired to positive reviews.  Be sure to catch this funny man up on stage as he joins yet another cast.  Get your Drowsy Chaperone tickets today!

London’s Rent Revival

Previews begin tonight for the much anticipated revival of the hit Broadway musical Rent in London.  The re-configured production will feature actors Denise Can Outen and Siobhan Donaghy and will officially open on October 15 for audiences to enjoy.  This particular revival marks the very first time that a professional staging of the show has been reworked from the original production.  In other words it’s almost like a complete makeover for the revered production that has been playing for years on Broadway and is now an extremely famous musical.

Van Outen plays the role of Maureen in the musical and previously she was known for playing the role of Roxie Hart in “Chicago”  though she was last seen onstage in the Andrew Lloyd Webber production “Tell Me On a Sunday” and she was also a panelist in the BBC’s reality show “Any Dream will Do.”  Her co-star in Rent, Siobhan Donaghy, is a founding member of Sugababes and is a renowned actor.  The musical score is superb for this production and will leave you singing along with all of the cast members on stage.  See what this revival is all about and don’t forget about the original.  Get your Rent tickets at Stubhub.com.

Sayre Will Ride the Waves in South Pacific

A new face has joined the cast of the South Pacific revival and you might very well recognize her name.  She is the acclaimed Hawaiian actress, Loretta Ables Sayre and this spring she will team up with the cast members of the hit production as Bloody Mary.  The official opening for the revival is set to take place on April 3, 2007.  The musical score of the play which focuses on blossoming love surrounded by racial intolerance and bigotry is hailed as one of the best music compilations in theatre today with several American songbook classics including “Some Enchanted Evening,” Wonderful Guy,” and “Bali H’ai.”
