Wickedly Wonderful Margolyes

Miriam Margolyes, the actress who created the role of Madame Morrible for the London production of the hit show “Wicked” will re-create her dynamite personification for New York audiences when joins the cast of the musical on January 22.  Margolyes comes with high honors after receiving the prestigious Theatergoers’ Choice Award for her work in the West End production of “Wicked.”  She joins a cast that includes the talents of Stephanie J. Block, Annaleigh Ashford, David Burnham, Lenny Wolpe and Cristy Candler.

The story of Wicked is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel which takes another look at the wonderful world of Oz.  According to press notes posted on Playbill.com Wicked “explores the early life of the witches of Oz: Glinda and Elphaba.  The two meet up at a sorcery school where Glinda becomes extremely popular and Elphaba is unfortunately green due to a rare skin disease.  They end up becoming roommates and in time they each learn something from each other as they embark on a journey into the Emerald City.”  This is certainly a mystical story that will perhaps leave you feeling as if you stepped off the well-trodden path of the yellow brick road.  Be sure not to miss Miriam Margolyes by purchasing your pair of Wicked tickets today.
