Six lucky ladies from the cast of the Tony-winning musical Spring Awakening have joined other artists, all of whom have banded together to take part in Broadway Backwards III. The flip-flopped singing show is scheduled for February 4 at the American Airlines Theatre. The Broadway Backwards concert features male singers performing songs that are traditionally sung by women and women singing tunes that are written for men. The event will be hosted by “The Ritz’s” Seth Rudetsky. The newcomers from Spring Awakening are: Lilli Cooper, Lea Michele, Eryn Murman, Phoebe Strole, Jenna Ushkowitz and Remy Zaken. They are scheduled to perform a song from Spring Awakening that honors the evening’s gender-bending concept.
Broadway Backwards is a benefit for New York’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center. The event’s creator Robert Bartley will direct the benefit with the help of Mark Janas for musical direction. A party will take place after the show wraps up. Broadway Backwards III is bound to provide some uplifting entertainment for the evening and it is a show that you won’t want to miss! Be sure to get your Spring Awakening tickets from Stubhub.com.
