The Seafarer will make its final appearance at Broadway’s Booth Theatre on March 30, as announced on Playbill.com. The Seafarer will have played 19 previews and 133 regular performances. It has been a big hit with fans and has a talented and an engaging cast who helps bring to life Irish playwright Conor McPherson’s supernatural-steeped play. Currently the Broadway company features Ciaran Hinds, Conleth Hill, Sean Mahon, David Morse and Jim Norton. It is directed by McPherson himself.
According to press notes posted on Playbill.com the play is a “chilling account about the sea, Ireland, and the power of myth. It takes place on Christmas Eve and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his irascible, aging brother who’s recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. But with the arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised ever hight. In fact, Sharky might be playing for his very soul.” This play will certainly leave chills down your spine, so if you want to be spooked, make sure to get The Seafarer tickets as soon as possible before it disappears from the lights of Broadway.
