Hairspray Recieves Nominations

Hairspray is sure sticking in the minds of fans especially since it just recently swept this year’s Olivier Award nominations including one for Best Musical.  The show also boasts Best Actress and Actor in a Musical nominations for actors Leanne Jones and Michael Ball.  Hairspray has been well received by fans all over the world and London is no exception.  There are always plenty of fans lining up at the door to purchase tickets and they always seem to walk away impressed with the musical that is expertly acted out on stage.  It’s no wonder that it is in line for top honors at this year’s Olivier Awards!

According to press notes, the musical Hairspray is set in 1962 Baltimore and it follows the “pleasantly plump” teen named Tracy Turnblad as she pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.  Most recently Hairspray was turned into a musical film in 2007 starring John Travolta.  Hairspray has met with continued success over the years and has held the record for biggest sales at opening weekend for a movie musical.  If you want to be impressed and enjoy a fantastic show, be sure to get your pair of Hairspray tickets today!
