The Fiddle Has Stopped

London’s “Fiddler on the Roof” has closed.  The final cast bow took place on February 16, to an appreciative and standing audience.  The production was a popular hit at its West End location, having recently garnered Olivier nominations for Best Musical Revival and Best Actor in a Musical.  The producers originally had planned on keeping the musical on the stage until April 26, but when lead star Henry Goodman’s contract finished on February, they had decided not to replace him.  Goodman was the actor who received the nominating nod for Best Actor in a Musical.  “Fiddler on the Roof” has been a much loved story over the years and the London production further proved its popularity among people of all generations.

“Fiddler on the Roof” is a story that is based on the story “Tevye and his Daughters.”  Tevye, who has five daughters, attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives.  Things are further complicated by the actions of his three eldest daughters, all of whom pick husbands whom do not represent the traditions of the established customs of the Jewish religion.  Although it has ceased its run in London, there will definitely be more productions of this much loved musical!  Be sure to get your Fiddler on the Roof tickets today!
