A new show will be hitting theaters on Broadway starting tonight. “Gypsy” had a critically acclaimed limited run at the City Center over the summer and now the classic American musical will hit the big time. Stars Patti LuPone, Boyd Gaines and Laura Benanti are making the official transition to Broadway and fans could not be more excited about the move. Lupone recently told Playbill.com that she was “Thrilled to death. This was an extraordinary company, and the fact that everybody was secretly praying that this would move to Broadway and every was available was great…it’s fate.”
Gypsy has become immensely popular with fans and is a great musical for everyone to go check out. It has an amazing score and a very talented cast who know their way around the stage. Gypsy was first brought to the stage in 1959 and it is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist. It also focuses on her mother Rose, who does her best to raise two daughters to perform onstage and casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of showbusiness life. If you want to see a truly enjoyable show, be sure to get your Gypsy tickets and see it on Broadway!
