Macbeth Heads to Broadway

April 8 is the official date for the popular production, Macbeth to take up residence at the Lyceum Theatre in the world’s most famous theatre district.  This move follows a widely acclaimed engagement in the West End and its current BAM run which is currently scheduled to run through March 22.  The limited engagement on Broadway is set to run through May 24.  Macbeth, according to press notes is set in a “subterranean kitchen that serves as a military hospital in a timeless and nameless country.”  The West End engagement recently was awarded with five Olivier Award nominations, including those for Best Actor, Best Director and Best Revival.  Some of the actors that are featured in Shakespeare’s bloody drama are: Patrick Stewart, Kate Fleetwood, Paul Shelley and Scott Handy, among many others.

The show’s leading man, Patrick Stewart is well regarded for his many stage roles that include: “A Christmas Carol,” “The Ride Down Mt. Morgan” and “The Tempest.”  He is also a very well known screen actor who has appeared in both television shows and in movies.  Perhaps his most well known role to date was the Captain Jean-Luc Picard on “Star Trek.”  He is also remembered for his role in the “X-Men” movies.  It is truly a fantastic opportunity to see Stewart in the title role in one of Shakespeare’s most well known stories.  Make sure that you are an audience member when this show hits the Broadway theater!  Get your Macbeth tickets today!
