Cheyenne Jackson From Xanadu Cast in Shifting the Canvas

Cheyenne Jackson, who plays the character of Sonny, in the Broadway musical Xanadu has been cast in the upcoming new film called “Shifting the Canvas.”  The film is directed by Chuck Griffith and according to press notes on Playbill.com, “tells the story about a group of artists living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who struggle to maintain a rather dysfunctional family of friends in a post-9/11 world challenged by gentrification, deception and sterilization.”  Jackson is ready to play the role of Jens, who is straight Ivy League type who works on Wall Street with a young gay character.

Jackson is wildly popular on Broadway and is well known for his role in the hit show of Xanadu.  According to the Xanadu website, the play “follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time-the first Roller Disco…hey, it’s 1980!  But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.”  Get your pair of Xanadu tickets from Stubhub.com.
