Tonys Given Out on Sunday

The entire Broadway community is on pins and needles looking forward to Sunday’s 2008 Tony Awards.  Award show veteran Whoopi Goldberg will be hosting the show as the Radio City Music Hall in New York City and will be broadcast from 8 to 11 p.m. ET on CBS.  Other awards shows’ ratings have dropped in recent years, but the Tony Awards show has been gaining viewers.  Viewers will be treated with an encore performance of the original cast of Rent as well as music from The Lion King and scenes performed life from other productions.  Salsa hit In the Heights leads the nominations with 13, but others are hoping for spots as well.

The Tonys are arguably the biggest awards in theater, making the show a can’t miss.  Many major hits like Wicked, A Chorus Line, and Monty Python’s Spamalot have won awards in the past, speaking to the company winners will join.
