Get geared up to see the North American tour of the popular Tony Award-winning musical, Spring Awakening. Marni Raab is gearing up to step into the shoes of Christine in the Phantom of the Opera. Previously Raab played in the role on the world and U.S. national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous production. Raab will join the Broadway cast starting at the evening performance on August 20. The Phantom of the Opera is playing at the Majestic Theater and is Broadway’s longest running show. It is currently in its 21st year in New York.

Matt Cavenaugh, who was most recently seen in the Harvey Fierstein-John Bucchino musical called A Catered Affair, has now been offered the role of Tony in the upcoming revival of West Side Story. Cabenaugh initially made his Broadway debut in 2003 with his role in Urban Cowboy. The Broadway play of West Side Story will begin previews on February 23, 2009 and will officially open on Broadway on March 19, 2009. The famed production has long been a fan favorite, both on the stage and on the screen.

The actress, Mary-Louise Parker is set to star in a Broadway revival of Hedda Gabler. Parker is a Tony-Award winner and will join the cast in January 2009 at the American Airlines Theater. Other cast members have not been announced, but will be made known as the opening date of the production draws near. Previews are so far scheduled to begin on January 6, 2009, with an official opening January 25, 2009. Parker was last seen on the Broadway stage in the revival of Reckless.

Casting has been made complete for the national tour of Legally Blonde: The Musical. The show will officially launch its journey in Providence, Rhode Island on September 21. Becky Gulsvig will take on the role of Elle Woods and she will be supported by a large, talented cast. Recently D.B. The production of the Jersey Boys has played to sold out crowds, winning the praise of both fans and critics and it has even garnered a Tony win. This time the problem involves a little song called “C’mon Marianne.” According to an article posted on Playbill.com, the song was “penned by L. Russell Brown and the late Raymond Bloodworth. Brown and Bloodworth’s daughter, Marie Shelton have filed a suit against EMI.” The plaintiffs are hoping for a settlement of $100,000 because they claim that EMI has failed to pay them royalties for the song.
Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 and arrived on Broadway the follow year. According to press notes on Playbill, Jersey Boys is “the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time.
