In the Heights, a Tony-award winning Broadway musical, has been honored with the award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus by the Actors’ Equity Association Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs’ for the Second Annual ACCA Award. According to a press statement noted on Playbill.com, the award honors “the distinctive talents and contributors made by the chorus of a Broadway musical.” The award was given to the cast of this production September 10th, with the ceremony on the 23rd during the ACCA meeting at Equity’s NYC headquarters.
The performers part of this chorus line were from the March 9, 2008 show, whom include Michael Balderrama, Blanca Camacho, Tony Chiroldes, Rogelio Douglas, Jr. Rosie Lani Fiedelman, Joshua Henry, Afra Hines, Stephanie Klemons, Nina LaFarga, Doreen Montalvo, Javier Muñoz, Krysta Rodriguez, Eliseo Román, Luis Salgado, Shaun Taylor-Corbett and Rickey Tripp. Other nominees for this award included Xanadu, Cry-Baby and South Pacific. In the Heights tells the story of individuals living in the Manhattan’s Washington Heights district and all the struggles and triumphs they go through while living in the Latino melting pot of the city.
