A Tale of Two Cities on Broadway

A Tale of Two Cities is one of the most provocative, historically volatile and violent books written by Charles Dickens, who remains one of the most remarkable writers in history. The musical version opened on Broadway on September 20, at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre in New York. The story is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution, it is a powerful tale of injustice, retribution and delivrence. The story is full of the injustice and cruelties that surrounded and permeated the French Revolution.

The book, music and lyrics for the show were written by Jill Santoriello. With set design by Tony Walton, costumes by David Zinn, lighting by Richard Pilbrow and Ochestrations by Bob Krogstad and Edward B. Kessel. With this award winning lineup of creative genius, the show is already being hailed as one of the best shows of the year.

For an electrical story of love, pain, triumph and defeat; this is definitely a show to watch with interest. The main character of the play, Sydney Carton, is played by James Barbour. Brandi Burkhardt plays the beautiful and central character Lucie Manette with Gregg Edelman as Lucie’s father Dr. Alexander Manette. Kevin Early is Ernest Defarge, the vengeful wine shop owner. The part of Charles Darnay is filled by Aaron Lazar, who won the 2007 Drama Desk Award Nomination for Outstanding Featured Actor in a musical.
