Want to dance in a Broadway musical?

Everybody has fantasies about being on stage, impressing everyone while in the spotlight, and then bowing before a cascade of applause. But Backstage.com has a fascinating article that might pop some people’s balloons–or add some wind to others.

In an interview with Grover Dale, the founder of the AnswersforDancers Web site, the most crucial thing you need to become a talented and successful Broadway dancer is the ability to act. Don’t expect to be able to rule the stage based on your moves along, she says.

Here’s a great quote from her:

“If you’re unfamiliar with acting motivation, you’re going to have a hard time getting work in musicals, because when you’re in an audition, your body reverts to what it knows. And if that body is not used to motivating movement, you’re not going to be able to do it on the spot.”

But that shouldn’t discourage you from watching Broadway musicals. If you’re looking for Broadway tickets, search Stubhub.com, where tickets to plenty of the hottest musicals and theatre shows can be found.
