Billy Eliot Opens Today

Billy Eliot, the famous musical from London’s West End, is opening up tonight at the Imperial Theatre in New York. The opening will be taking place at eight o’clock this evening, and amazingly, tickets are currently available at Stubhub.com. Tickets are ranging in price from $155 to $353 dollars.

Billy Eliot is the story of a young boy whose mother is dead and whose father, a hardened coal miner, is very distant and reserved, though he tries to be a good father. Billy’s solace is in his best friend Michael and in his discovery of ballet, which he takes to with incredible skill. This is a wonderful story of a boy who rises above his circumstances in life, and realizes his dreams.

The part of Billy will be rotated between three boys David Alvarez, Kiril Kulis and Trent Kowalik. Billy’s older self will be played by Stephen Hanna and best friend Michael will be performed alternatively by David Bologna and Frank Dolce. Haydn Gwyn will be reprising her role as the dance teacher, Mrs Wilkinson. The part of Billy’s father is filled by Gregory Jbara and Tony Award winner Carole Shelley will be taking her place as the grandmother.

This is definitely a show that you will not want to miss. It is an incredible story of one boy’s struggle to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds.
