Hairspray Workshop

Nikki Blonsky has teamed up with the Broadway musical “Hairspray” for a one-day musical workshop to give students Manhattan a chance to work on every aspect of performance for musicals. The actress became famous for her performance as Tracy Turnblad in the movie version of the musical, when she was 17. She has also recently starred in the Lifetime movie “Queen Sized.”

Hairspray takes place in Baltimore in 1962, with Tracy Turnblad propelling her city into the era of change. With her big heart and passion for dancing she quickly becomes a teen celbrity. But what will happen when the changes that are taking place are met with serious opposition?

The current run of “Hairspray” on Broadway is staring Marissa Perry as Tracy Turnblad.  Other key parts are Edna Turnblad plyed by George Wendt, Velma Von Tussle played by Karen Mason, Seaweed J. Stubbs is performed by Tevin Campbell, and many more.
