“Chicago’s” New Cast Members

Tonight on Broadway Brenda Braxton will be playing her first performance as Velma, replacing the previous star Terra MacLeod who had her final performance last night. She will be returning the role that she previously filled. Braxton was nomintated for the 1995 Tony Award for her role in “Smokey Joe’s Cafe.” She has also played in “Jelly’s Last Jam,” “Cats,” “Legs Diamond,” and “Dreamgirls.”

On November 14, LaVon Fisher-Wilson will be joining the cast of “Chicago” as Matron “Mama” Morton, where she is scheduled to stay until January 1, 2009. Fisher-Wilson made her Broadway debut in “The Color Purple.” She received a Suzi Award for her portrayal of Gran Mimi in “Jelly’s Last Jam at the Alliance Theater and has appeaared in “Once on this Island,” “Crowns,” “Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope” and several others.
