As Veteran’s Day Approaches

Tomorrow, November 11, 2008, our country will be celebrating the day that World War I ended. It is now the 90th anniversary of the end of that war, known then as the “war to end all wars” and today our country is much different than it would have been without the victory of that war. But don’t forget that the holiday has also become one of remembering all our military veterans.

For those who find it hard to understand the significance that the US military has played in the history of our country, take some time to think what the world, and our own country, might look like if the men and women who have and are bravely fighting for our country were to cease the jobs that they have to do.

Recently the cast of South Pacific were visited by Edith Shane, a WWII Navy nurse, who is supposed to be the woman in the iconic end of the war photograph being kissed by the sailor. The photo became famous as an icon of the end of the war. South Pacific is considered to be one of the greatest musicals of all time, and is one of the few currently on Broadway about members of the military.
