Rock of Ages

One of the newest hits Off-Broadway, Rock of Ages, is headed to the big screen. Rock of Ages is set in the late ’80s with a Hollywood rock club that is facing its final days, as developers plan to tear it down. A small-town girl and a young rocker may be just what is needed to keep this club on the scene in city of entertainment. Hair metal, hoop earrings, mullets and all the most exciting, and some of the more embarrassing, parts of the ’80s.

This show could be either really bad or really incredible, and fortunately for them it is much better than it sounds in print. With American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis playing the leading male role, the show is actually pretty fantastic and it is not hard to understand why it has been picked to join the ranks of the new wave of movie musicals that have been hitting the big screen. If you love Rock, particularly ’80s rock, this is definitely the musical to go to, so get your Rock of Ages tickets while you still can.
