33 Variations Previews Beginning Tonight

The previews for 33 Variations are starting this evening at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in New York. The play tells the story of Beethoven’s obsession with a piece of music by a little-known composer and music publisher from Vienna. Jane Fonda will be heading up the cast that is headed up by Jane Fonda and includes Samantha Mathis, Colin Hanks, Zack Grenier, Don Amendolia, Susan Kellerman, Erik Steele, and Diane Walsh. The design team includes set designer Derek McLane, costume designer Janice Pytel with additional costumes by David C. Woolard, lights by David Lander, sound by Andre Pluess, projection design by Jeff Sugg, hair and wig design by Charles LaPointe, choreography by Daniel Pelzig and dramaturg by Mark Bly. The play will be beginning its previews at 8:00pm tonight.

33 Variations is written and directed by Moises Kaufman, who is also famous forĀ  plays such as Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde and The Laramie Project. Other plays directed by Kaufman include Marloew’s Eye by Naomi Iizuka, Now Be Witness Again, Women in Beckett and Remarkable Stillness.
