The long-anticipated and long-awaited musical, Spider-Man, Turn off the Dark, is now scheduled to open at the Hilton Theatre on Broadway in February of 2010. Previews will begin on January 16 that same year. The musical has been the talk of Broadway for some time now and it is highly anticipated as an up-and-coming big thing on Broadway. It will be produced by Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle, Martin McCallum, Marvel Entertainment/David Maisel, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Jeremiah Harris. Julie Taymor is best known as the director of Disney’s The Lion King, which is currently playing on Broadway for the 12th year in a row.
Spider-Man draws from a 40 year tradition of Marvel comics books, and brings a new take on this classic comic book hero. This mythical tale of Peter Parker is certain to be one of the most exciting twist to this old favorite, culminating in a surprising and inspiring new twist that tells the origins of Spider-Man and how he came to be.
