Guys and Dollls Opening Night

Guys and Dolls celebrated the show’s official opening night yesterday, March 1, 2009. This new revival of an old favorite has already been winning brave reviews during its previews, but yesterday the cast took their spots for a curtain-call on opening night. The musical took the audience back to the ’50s, with the smart slang and ’50s gambling guys. The show is rounded out by nightclub dolls and Salvation Army saints.

This musical revival is directed by winning director Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo, who recently collaborated to bring Jersey Boys, the Tony Award-winning musical to the stage. Starring in Guys and Dolls are Oliver Platt as Nathan Detroit, Lauren Graham as Miss Adelaide, Craig Bierko as Sky Masterson, and Kate Jennings grant as Sarah Brown. The musical began previews at the newly renovated Nederlander Theatre.

When you buy Guys and Dolls tickets, you can expect to hear Broadway favorites such as “Fugue for Tinhorns,” “A Bushel and a Peck,” “Adelaide’s Lament,” “I’ll Know,” “Guys and Dolls,” “More I cannot Wish You,” “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat,” and the ever-famous Frank Sinatra favorite “Luck be a Lady.” This musical is certain to please, so do not hesitate in getting tickets because, as the word goes out, these are certain to become one of the hottest items on Broadway.
