God of Carnage has been playing previews since February 28, and will be celebrating its official opening on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Sunday. The play by Parisian playwright Yasmina Reza, is both a funny and poignant look at human nature and parenthood. The all-star cast consists of the incredible Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini, and Marcia Gay Harden. The play is translated by Christopher Hampton and directed by Matthew Warchus. Riza is also the author of the massive award-winning play Art, which won Olivier, Tony, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards for Best Play. She is also a novelist.
In God of Carnage, the parents of two boys meet to discuss a playground altercation between their two sons, in which one boy broke two of the other boy’s teeth. What happens when two sets of reasonable, sensible-minded adults get together to discuss their sons after the playground drama?
