God of Carnage had a successful opening night, with an all-star cast including Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, James Gandolfini and Marcia Gay Harden. The triumphant first night took place yesterday, Sunday, March 22, 2009. The play tells a common story, with a backhanded and entertaining kind of humor that is characteristic of Yasmina Reza. After two boys get into a fight on a playground, two sets of parents get together to discuss the matter. It is a familiar occurance, as young boys often get into fights at school, but this time it is the parents we are observing, and not the children.
While it is expected that two young boys might get into a bit of a tiff on the playground, adults are expected to behave as…well…adults. In this play Reza shows the depths to which a group of adults can sink, when it comes to issues concerning their children. The attitude of the adults in this play quickly deteriorates into name-calling and wors as the barely-concealed immaturitys of the group begin to surface. This is a great play, hysterically funny with a set of brilliant actors that you will not want to miss! Get your God of Carnage tickets from StubHub.com today!
