Pulitzer Prize Musical Play Now in Seattle

Sunday in the Park with George tickets are currently available for the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Washington. This wonderful play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1985, with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. The musical also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical and several other awards. The musical is a timeless love stroy, inspired by the life of Georges Seurat, a 19th Century painter whose most famous work is titled Sunday Afternoon on the Island of the Grande Jatte.

The musical connects two different periods in artistic history, the first is 1884, in Paris, as Seurat is immersed, single-mindedly, in painting his masterpiece. The second takes place 100 years later, as his great-grandson, George, is struggling in the world of modern art having followed his ancestor in his passion. This is an incredible musical, and was the sixth one in the history of the Pulitzer Prizes to win the award.
