Next to Normal tickets are currenlty available on Broadway, where the musical will be appearing at the Booth Theatre. Previews for the musical begin tonight, with opening night scheduled for April 15. The musical receivecd mixed reviews off-Broadway, but it has been well-received by audiences. The musical won the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award in 2008, and is now becoming one of the most anticipated new shows coming to Broadway. Next to Normal tells the story of an all American family, with a little twist. The mother, Diana, played by Alice Ripley, struggles with a mental illness. The son, Gabe, played by Aaron Tveit, is almost 18 and is a great son with all the qualities that a mother could dream of: charming, playful, and bright. 16 year-old Natalie, played by Jennifer Damiano, is a young girl trying to create perfection in a world that is anything but perfect. The father, Dan, played by J. Robert Spencer, is a man who works hard to be a good father and husband. Also appearing in the show are Adam Chanler-Berat as Henry and Louis Hobson as Dr. Madden and Dr Fine.
