The classic musical Ragtime has been burning up the theatrical scene over the last several months at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, and now it’s official that the musical will make the big leap to Broadway this fall, set to take place at the Neil Simon Theater. The Broadway production of Ragtime will begin performances on October 23 with the official opening scheduled for November 15, and this Marcia Milgrom Dodge directed and choreographed production is sure to draw in crowds by the thousands to witness the spectacle.
The cast for the upcoming production of Ragtime on Broadway has not yet been announced, but the highly-praised musical is sure to be the ultimate crowd-pleaser on the Broadway scene once again when it comes to the Big Apple. Ragtime is based off the E.L. Doctorow novel about three New York families in the early 1900s, and the original Broadway production of the musical was first performed in 1998, garnering 13 Tony Awards in its initial running. Earlier this year, Ragtime ran at the Eisenhower Theatre from April 18 through May 17, giving theatergoers a sneak peek of the action to come.
