Run-DMC Struts to Broadway

Plans are in place for a new rap musical, and it will all come together soon thanks to rap heavyweight Run-DMC, who is the new music group to be the subject of a musical. It’s been reported to Playbill.com that early discussions are in place for a Run-DMC-themed musical to hit the big stage sometime soon, with Mission Impossible producer Paula Wagner behind the bit. According to Playbill, Run-DMC members Joseph “Rev Run” Simmons and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels are meeting with Paula Wagner this week to discuss the initial plans for the Run-based musical, and the production (as of now, anyway) will detail the rise to fame of Run-DMC in the rap realm.

Wagner recently spoke of the upcoming endeavor, as well, saying that Run-DMC’s “rise to fame was a compelling and dramatic journey filled with fantastic characters. I feel their story is very inspirational and lends itself perfectly to the stage. This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with them.” Beef up on Run-DMC songs before the release of this sure-to-be-electric production!
